Feedback 2010
Toby Knyvett - Feedback proposal:
“The work explores the possibilities offered by technology in allowing non-traditional interactions between performer, audience and space. It will be a collaboration between myself, a composer and one or more dancer/choreographers. The central idea of this piece will be the use of technology to create a ‘feedback loop’ connecting a real-world dancer to a virtual environment. The dancer will (to some extent) improvise their movement based on dynamically generated audio and video playback. The organic movement of the dancer(s) will be measured using digital sensors. This data will be used to create material for video projection and audio playback, which the dancer then bases their movements upon. In this way a feedback loop is established, where each moment is the direct result of the previous moment. Over time performative relationships evolve between dancer and technology.”
