St Kilda Meet over 150 artisans offering an exciting range of their contemporary artworks
http://www.stkildamarket.com/search.php
A DJ was painfully chopping up some brilliant music when I visited it last time but the scene was cool enough to stay for a few drinks anyway.
Picture this: Black walls elaborately decorated with white paisley designs, deep burgundy curtains edged with golden tassels adorn the thick wooden beams. One wall reflects the groovy rhythms of Aretha Franklin’s greatest under the meanderings of a lava lamp light. Massive vases of African lilies stand proudly on ornate side tables here and there beneath chandeliers made from big black beads. A couple dressed up to the nines spontaneously show off their ballroom dancing moves, mid song, before sauntering back to their cocktails.
The menu looked great and not too pricey but unfortunately we had just had some terrible vegetarian pizza down the road but promised we’d return for a meal next time!
It might have an unbelievably ugly website (the white and black stripes are positively BLINDING!) but this is one cool pub! An absolute MUST if you’re in St Kilda. The first night I went there we saw LADY STRANGELOVE who just happened to be on and were brilliant!
The second time I found $25 on the floor, hooray! Something good always happens there!
There are two main rooms for bands and an eatery and chill out room upstairs with a balcony overlooking the Esplanade. Gorgeous!
